Club Design Berlin
My Project for the second half year of my architecture studies. Topic was creating a club and meeting point in the middle of Berlin.
The location is a very special one. It's located at the original building site of the Berlin Wall and between two canals. The surrounding area is rather lower income. The island itself and the two parks located to the right and left function as green relaxation areas for the people. With the new buildings and landscape architecture we wanted to complement and extend the existing structure by removing an old concrete factory at the tip of the island.
The club, designed for rowers and paddlers, is shaped in a perfect circle. The buildings for all the functions are ashlars set into the ground by 1.6m. The entrances of those are generated by cutting the with virtual spheres the size of the forecourts. The main club building is a cube that has open sides in every direction.
The private club only member area has special use of the thick walls. There are plants and benches located within the structure.
Special functions for the forecourts make everyone of those a specialised area.
The public accessible area is marked by wide spaces and permeability.
Our presentation was printed on A1.
These were the 13 pages.
